2. GarageBand for iPhone Ringtone
Apple’s Terms of Service for the iTunes store prevents iPhone users from re-using protected songs as ringtones, but If you’ve got Apple’s GarageBand, you’ve already got a free ringtone maker that will work with almost any audio file you have in iTunes. In GarageBand, you can edit your unprotected music files and sent them to iTunes. It is a sound idea to compose your ringtone with GarageBand built-in loops.

3. About Protected Music Files
The above methods are limited to unprotected music files, so you need to remove the DRM protecton if you want to make ringtones out of protected files.
